I wish current Israeli leaders and many Israeli citizens(at least representations of them through media) could be more understanding

Turkey and Israel will not get better in near future as long as current leaders maintain their seats. Under normal conditions, Erdogan will preserve its seat and position despite growing domestic opposition. He might have a personal grudge against Israel due to his Islamic background.

that can always be argued against him, but current crisis between two countries probably started when Israel thwarted Turkey's attempts to be involved in the Middle East through negotiations between Syria and Israel. And Turkey's attempts to be involved is not particular to these negotiations. Turkey has started a pro-active Foreign Policy that was never seen before .More on this policy here.

Anyway, within this context, whatever happened before took a more personal turn from now on: Turkish citizens were killed in international waters. From now on it becomes a more national and also more personal issue. (Well, I knew personally one of the murdered ones, if you see what I mean they were our people).

I wish current Israeli leaders and many Israeli citizens (at least representations of them through media) could be more understanding about that. It really makes the situation of those who prefer to have normal (and even pro-active) relations with Israel indefensible back in Turkey.

I don't claim that all Turkish arguments are defensible but the gravity of situation seems to be downplayed by the Israeli side. Accusing back Turkey cannot solve the crisis but only strengthens because Turkish side believes its righteousness and the political opposition is angry with Erdogan not because his intentions but because he did not react more forcefully.
